Climate protection is one of the main challenges facing our cities, especially our historic districts. In light of the growing need for urban densification and greater utilization of existing spaces, cities are increasingly coming under pressure: socially, politically, ecologically, and in regard to their architectural heritage.

The declared aim of the German federal government is to reduce carbon in the built environment to almost zero by 2050. But what consequences does this have for the management of historic urban districts?
