Moritz Riesenbeck studied architecture and fine arts in Münster before joining Gregor Schneider's class at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2018. In his site-specific sound installations, the artist deals with architecturally striking places, their significance for urban space, and their historical location.

The publication documents Riesenbeck's installation Handeln (Lonely Church), which was developed for the above-ground part of the church of St. John XXIII in Cologne-Sülz. Sixteen solid-borne sound transducers, glued directly onto the glass of the church windows at regular intervals, used the thin panes as a membrane, transforming the architecture itself into a spherical sound source that could be heard both inside the church and in the urban space.

In addition to documenting the work, the book is intended as an independent, supplementary body of work that, in addition to a sound file and installation recordings, gathers the essential elements that contributed to the conception of the work, including texts on the architecture of the building, among other things, as well as archival materials such as historical floor plan drawings, photographs, and sketches.
