Published to accompany the book: Alltag / Everyday Life / Passage

The publication "Alltag / Everyday Life / Passage" combines works by the Düsseldorf-based artist Carol Pilars de Pilar with the fundamental preoccupation with the theme of everyday life and art.

The installation "Alltag/Everyday Life" consists of figures and vessels made of clay, which stand on frames made of concrete and delicate steel elements. The works are accompanied by interviews with 6 different people on socially relevant issues, recorded and edited by the artist. The clay figures show very different bodies, old, young, male, female, trans bodies, black, brown and white bodies, even chimeras are among them.

"Passage" are collage works of drawings, paintings and photography, as well as narratives and statements about the lives of eleven portrayed people. Even before "Passage" Carol Pilars de Pilar painted and drew portraits, and in the last 15 years has had intensive experience working with models. The artist is in your work fascinated by reality, you as a sighted flows with their thoughts and feelings in the process of drawing and painting strongly.
